Juventus star tests positive for coronavirus as Cristiano Ronaldo and team-mates risk being put into quarantine

Juventus have announced that Italy international Daniele Rugani has tested positive for coronavirus.

All football has been suspended in the country due to the pandemic, which has claimed over 800 lives so far.

Juve are due to take on Lyon in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie next week but that has now been thrown into serious doubt.

A statement said: "The footballer Daniele Rugani has tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic.

"Juventus Football Club is currently activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including a census of those who have had contact with him."

That could mean that the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gianluigi Buffon, who would have trained alongside the defender, may have to be placed into quarantine.

Europa League matches featuring Inter and Roma have already been postponed, while Rangers will face Bayer Leverkusen behind closed doors next week.
