Juventus sporting director hints at Paul Pogba transfer but says focus is on Andrea Pirlo and short term

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has hinted at a potential transfer for Manchester United’s Paul Pogba in the future, although he says the club are focused on their short-term objectives.

Pogba had great success at Juve between 2012-16, winning four Serie A titles and two Coppa Italias. The 27-year-old was linked with a return to Turin this year but the pandemic is believed to have turned the Juventus hierarchy away from big-money signings and towards a more conservative approach.

Pogba has come in for some criticism this season as Paratici said Juventus remain big admirers of the France international.

He told Sky Sport Italia: “Right now he is a Manchester United player and it is far too early to think about future transfer targets. We all care for Pogba here, one of many ex-players who gave Juve so much, but it's too early to talk about future objectives.

“We are concentrated on constructing this team for this season, that is where our focus lies.”

Juve are third in Serie A with three wins and three draws from their opening six games under new manager Andrea Pirlo, Pogba’s former midfield teammate.
