Juventus plot Chelsea transfer hijack as Thomas Tuchel handed Antonio Rudiger contract boost

Welcome to our football.london CareFree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Former Blues take trip down memory lane

Dynel Simeu and Tino Livramento have been reminiscing over their time together as Chelsea juniors at Cobham.

The pair left Stamford Bridge this summer as they completed their respective moves to Southampton, and they've been looking back at their time with the Blues as part of a YouTube video with the Saints.

Simeu, who captained Chelsea across various age groups, said of Livramento: "Tino used to be quite quiet but he would always lead by example in the way that he played. He's always been a very attacking-minded right-back. We've always had good chemistry so I always enjoy playing with him."

Livramento then took the chance to return the compliment, saying of Simeu: "When he joined Chelsea, everyone was looking at him, the size of him was pretty intimidating but once you get to know him he's such a down to earth and nice guy. On the pitch he leads by example, he's a talker."

Defensive duo edge closer to new deals

Fabrizio Romano (via CBS Sports) reports that Chelsea will look to secure Andreas Christensen's future at the club before concentrating on extending Antonio Rudiger Stamford Bridge stay.

Both players are key members of Thomas Tuchel's solid backline, though with less than 12 months remaining on their respecitve deals they will be able to leave the club on a free transfer next summer unless fresh terms are penned.

Romano's report adds that Chelsea remain frontrunners in the race to secure Rudiger's services beyond next summer and talks with his representatives are ongoing. Despite the prolonged discussions, it's understood Tuchel has no interest in allowing the Germany international to leave.

Zouma opens up on Chelsea exit

Kurt Zouma has revealed a lack of consistent game time at Chelsea meant he had to seek a move away from the club following his £29 million move to West Ham this summer.

The France international has claimed that, despite being part of a successful team, he needed more minutes on the pitch and was impressed by David Moyes' plans for the Hammers.

"I needed to play more," Zouma said of his Chelsea exit. "Obviously I was in a team that was doing really well. Coming here [West Ham] has allowed me to compete more to play. It's a club that wants to progress and grow, and I want to be part of this project."

Juventus hijack Tchouameni transfer

Juventus are keen to hijack Chelsea's pursuit of AS Monaco's Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Italian outlet Tuttosport claim that the Blues are monitoring the midfielder's progress, however, they face stiff competition following the news Juventus have already lodged their interest.

Chelsea were heaviy linked with the Frenchman in the recently closed transfer window though a move failed to materialise.

The Athletic reported that Chelsea decided not to make a bid for Tchouaméni because the board felt the 21-year-old needed another year of development before moving the the Premier League.

Instead, Chelsea signed Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez on a season-long loan, but with the Spaniard struggling early on in his Blues career it may be that Chelsea decide to battle it out with Juventus for the signing of Tchouaméni.
