Juventus manager Max Allegri makes Paul Pogba joke amid Manchester United transfer interest

Juventus boss Max Allegri brushed off speculation that Paul Pogba is set to return to the club this summer by claiming not to know who he was.

Pogba is almost certain to leave Manchester United when his contract expires this summer and he's already received a contract offer from Paris St-Germain.

The 29-year-old has also been linked with Real Madrid and Juve and speculation over a return to Turin has gathered pace after it was revealed club bosses had met with Rafaela Pimenta, who is now Pogba's representative after the death of his agent Mino Raiola.

Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene played down those talks, insisting they were over players already under contract at the Italian giants, but Allegri was asked about Pogba following Juve's 2-2 draw with Lazio on Monday night.

When asked about the rumours of a return, Allegri told DAZN : "I don’t know him, who is he? Is that an English word? I forgot, it’s been too many years.”

Pogba spent four seasons at Juventus before returning to Old Trafford for £89million in 2016, but his six years at United have been unfulfilling and he looks certain to depart this summer.

Allegri was in charge of Juve for Pogba's final two seasons at the club, winning the domestic double in both of those campaigns.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Arrivabene said: "Let's just make one thing clear. Pogba is a Manchester United player. We must show respect for him and his squad. Having said that, Pogba's agents are also the same ones who represent [Moise] Kean and Luca Pellegrini, so it's only normal we should meet with them.

"The subject of the meeting was not Pogba. If we wanted to talk to Pogba, we would need to speak to Manchester United. It's a gentleman's agreement between the clubs."
