Juventus handed Champions League injury boost ahead of Chelsea clash as star forward returns

Paulo Dybala is set to return from injury in time to face Chelsea in their Champions League clash with Juventus on Tuesday.

The Argentine forward missed Juventus’ 1-0 win over the Blues back in September with a muscular injury and was absent from the Bianconeri’s victory over Lazio in Serie A on Saturday with a similar problem.

But according to Italian football journalist Giovanni Albanese, Dybala is back in training and aims to be fit in time for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Albanese also confirmed that defender Danilo will miss the game through an adductor injury that he picked up against Lazio, but influential midfielder Manuel Locatelli is fit to play.

The return of Dybala will be concerning for Chelsea, who must beat Juventus in order to stand a chance of finishing top of their UCL group, which should give them an easier fixture in the Round of 16 draw.

The 28-year-old is considered one of the best forwards in the world right now, and, despite suffering from some injury issues, has scored six and assisted four in 11 appearances in all competitions this season.

Chelsea are aiming to defend their Champions League title for the first time, after Thomas Tuchel’s side defeated Manchester City in last season’s final in Porto in May.

Juventus, meanwhile, are looking to end their 25-year wait for a European title, having been runners-up in 1997, 1998, 2003, 2015 and 2017.

Chelsea vs Juventus at Stamford Bridge is on Tuesday November 23 (kick-off 20:00).
