Juventus great Claudio Marchisio urges Paul Pogba to leave Manchester United

Juventus great Claudio Marchisio has pleaded with Manchester United star Paul Pogba to return to Turin.

The request comes as Pogba finds himself out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and struggling for form at Old Trafford.

With Bruno Fernandes becoming United's focal point in midfield since his arrival from Sporting in January, the Frenchman has been forced to compete for a spot in central midfield and currently finds himself behind Fred and Scott McTominay in the pecking order.

As a result, Pogba has been relegated to a bit-part player in the side and has started more than half of the games so far this season on the substitutes' bench.

The 27-year-old is currently away on international duty and admitted that he is struggling during the most difficult period of his career.

"I had never known such a difficult period in my career," he told  RTL. "The France team is a breath of fresh air. It's not the same as with the club, the group is exceptional, it's magic."

Pogba's struggles continued for his country, as he faced criticism for his performance in the shock 2-0 defeat to minnows Finland but he did earn a measure of redemption as he played the full 90 minutes in the Nations League victory against Portugal.

United broke the world transfer record by spending £89million to bring Pogba back to Manchester in 2016 and his poor form hasn't put his former midfield partner Marchisio off from wanting to see him return to Juventus, where he enjoyed great success in a four-year stint.

Pogba posted a photo of himself in France training on Instagram with the caption: "Head up, look forward!" to which Marchisio replied: "Please @paulpogba. Come to @juventusfc, you will be happy again. Me too #tilltheend."
