Juventus' Giorgio Chiellini takes aim at Chelsea with joke ahead of Champions League clash

Juventus stalwart Giorgio Chiellini has joked that Wednesday’s clash with Chelsea is the easiest game that the Italian giants will have faced in recent weeks.

Max Allegri’s men have begun the new season in poor form following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

They currently sit 10th in the Italian standings having won just two of their opening six matches of the campaign.

Despite that, they began their latest European campaign in the perfect way by dismissing Swedish outfit Malmo 3-0 away from home.

They now come up against a Chelsea side who are the Champions League holders following their victory against Manchester City in Porto and Chiellini has made a joke at Blues’ expense.

Talking in his pre-match press conference, he said: “Well tomorrow I think is going to be the easiest one of all the ones we have been playing so far basically, the coach has told us the same thing.

“Basically these are very nice games because you can prepare for them very easily because there is a high tension and high concentration so basically everything is taken to the highest level from the atmosphere.”

The veteran defender was of course joking about the difficulty of the prospect of coming up against the Blues and is instead anticipating a testing match-up with Tuchel’s men.

He continued: “Obviously we will be playing at home to the European champions who have got even stronger, so it is going to be very nice but particularly challenging.

“I think we will play a very nice match and we are all looking forward to tomorrow and I think that all of the supporters, fans and us included are looking forward to playing tomorrow.”
