Juventus director reveals Mario Mandzukic transfer stance amid Manchester United links

Juventus director Fabio Paratici has revealed that Mario Mandzukic was close to leaving the Italian side in the summer and that his future in Turin is being considered.

The 33-year-old is yet to feature in Serie A this season, with persistent speculation surrounding the future of the experienced Croatian striker.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a swoop for the 89-cap Croatia international as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bolster his attacking options at Old Trafford following a difficult start to the season.

Now, Paratici has revealed that the Serie A champions are discussing the future of Mandzukic and a transfer looks likely, considering the fact that a move was close to materialising in the summer.

“He stayed a bit on the sidelines at the club, because there was a transfer taking place in Qatar and we wanted it to remain quiet," he told TuttoSport, as per Sport Witness.

"It didn’t materialize, now we will talk to him and the agents to find the best possible solution."

United could face competition in January if they enter the market for Mandzukic, with rumours suggesting that clubs from China are also in the hunt for his services.
