Juventus chief sends Manchester United transfer warning over Emre Can and Adrien Rabiot

Juventus director Fabio Paratici has “excluded” the possibility of Emre Can or Adrien Rabiot leaving the club this month, amid reported Manchester United interest.

Although MEN Sport understands former Liverpool midfielder Can is not a priority transfer target for United, Rabiot was briefly on their radar in the summer before swapping PSG for Juve on a free transfer.

Neither player has been a regular for the Old Lady this season. And given United's need for more midfield options, with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay both out injured at the moment, they've been linked heavily with Can.

But Paratici told Sky Italia that Juventus want to keep the two high-profile midfielders.

“I can exclude Emre Can leaving, as he will certainly remain with us," he said.

“On an international level, he is one of the most wanted players, but I think he can be important for our project.

“Rabiot arrived here after not playing for eight months. It’s only natural on a physical level he should take time to adapt. He paid the price for that, but he has done well when used.

“We are confident, he is an important player and a guarantee for Juve, not a question mark or a doubt.

“We have an important squad, with a lot of competition for places, and that’s how it should be at this level.”

United have also been linked with a number of Premier League midfield players, both defensive midfielders and No.10 playmakers, with Harry Winks joining the likes of Jack Grealish in terms of being touted for an Old Trafford switch. The MEN understands James Maddison is a priority target.
