Juventus chief issues update on Cristiano Ronaldo's future amid Manchester United links

Juventus vice-chairman Pavel Nedved has insisted Cristiano Ronaldo will not leave the club despite their struggles to qualify for the Champions League.

The Serie A club have surrendered the league title already to Inter Milan and were knocked out of the top four on Sunday after a 3-0 defeat by AC Milan.

United have been linked with a move to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, according to reports in Italy, though MEN Sport revealed in November that there are no plans to bring the Portuguese star back to the club..

United sources laughed off the suggestion a deal was being discussed and Nedved said he expects Ronaldo to stay put.

Despite the pressures on the 36-year-old and under-fire boss Andrea Pirlo, Nedved has insisted neither player nor coach will be leaving.

"Pirlo and Ronaldo will stay at Juventus," the Allianz Stadium chief told Italian outlet Striscia la Notizia . "There are some difficulties, but we’ll fight until the end."

Speaking after his side's defeat at the weekend, Pirlo insisted he would continue fighting for success.

"I have undertaken this job with a lot of enthusiasm, there are difficulties but my work goes on and I am available," Pirlo said.

"I think I can do better and be able to get out of it, together with the team. We have to look forward, I will continue to do my job as long as I am allowed.

"We had actually started fairly well in the match, but we lost our way and this was the final result. It's difficult to explain now. There were many components that didn't work."
