Cristiano Ronaldo appears likely to stay with Juventus this summer after the club's vice-president revealed that no request to the contrary has been made.
The 36-year-old former Manchester United forward has been tentatively linked with a move back to Old Trafford as speculation over his future continues.
However, with less than a month to go until the Premier League kicks-off, United have started to invest elsewhere in attacking quarters.
Indeed, they are poised to unveil long-term target Jadon Sancho any time now, as he prepares to rubber-stamp his £73.9million switch from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, has yet to touch down in Turin after spear-heading Portugal's unsuccessful Euros title defence.
He led the way and picked up the 'Golden Boot' at Euro 2020 this summer - scoring five goals - but Ronaldo, United playmaker Bruno Fernandes and co crashed out in the last 16 to Belgium.
Italy went on to win the competition, at the expense of England, via a penalty shootout at Wembley.
While links between Ronaldo and a United return have been tentative, there had been further suggestions that he might pursue a transfer to big-spending French side Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
His first club Sporting had also been attributed with an interest in the ex-Real Madrid superstar.
However, the Juventus vice-president Pavel Nedved - who reached the top level during his own playing career - is expecting Ronaldo to report back for duty as Juve aim to wrestle back the Scudetto from rivals Inter Milan.
Nedved said: "Cristiano is on holiday. We have no signal from his entourage that he wants to leave.
"We're waiting for him and he will return around July 25 as scheduled."
