Juventus chief confirms talks over Mario Mandzukic transfer amid Man Utd interest

Juventus are in talks with Mario Mandzukic over a move away from the club in January.

Mandzukic, 33, has emerged as a target for Manchester United after initial interest in the Croatian striker last summer.

United have been tipped to make a move in January with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitting his side are short of attacking options.

Mandzukic has not featured at all under Maurizio Sarri this season and is training away from Juventus ' first-team squad.

His exit appears inevitable and Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici confirmed negotiations over a move are ongoing.

"We are talking to Mandzukic to find the best possible solution," Paratici told Sky Italia

"We remain open to any scenario, so staying here or going elsewhere. We are discussing it to find the best solution for both parties."

The former Bayern Munich striker joined Juventus in 2015 and had been a regular before Maurizio Sarri's arrival.

United boss Solskjaer admitted recently he had considered making a move for another striker last summer, believed to have been Mandzukic.

And on potential January deals, he added: "If there are players available and at the right price, I'm sure we will spend.

"There might be some experienced players who can come in and help the younger players - that might be worth the money.

"So it depends on who is available. I'm not going to go down the route of bringing players in on big contracts and big fees if they're not the right ones for the whole group and for the future."
