Mauricio Pochettino could be set for a return to the dugout after Juventus approached him about their managerial vacancy.
The Serie A giants sacked boss Maurizio Sarri less than 24 hours after they crashed out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage.
Sarri had delivered a ninth successive Serie A title less than a fortnight ago, but was handed his P45 after failing to guide his team past Lyon over two legs.
Pochettino has been out of work since being relieved of his duties at Tottenham last November.
The Mail report that Juve have already made contact with the Argentine coach about the role, which he is favourite to land.
Simone Inzaghi is also in the running, but Juventus would have to pay a significant amount in compensation if they wish to appoint the man whose Lazio side finished just five points behind them in the table.
As Pochettino is a free agent he would be able to take up the role immediately.
Juventus president Andrea Agnelli's preferred option would be Zinedine Zidane, but he there is little chance of him leaving Real Madrid anytime soon.
Instead Pochettino is seen as a perfect alternative, and the ex-Spurs boss has admitted previously it would be a dream to manage the Italian club due to having close family ties with Turin.
Juventus are desperate to win the Champions League, which Pochettino led Tottenham to the final of just over a year ago.
It was that desire which led the board to dismiss Sarri after just one season.
The former Chelsea boss may have won the title for his side, but the season has not been up to Juventus' standards.
They were crowned champions with their lowest points total since the 2010/11 campaign - the last year they failed to bring home the Scudetto.
On top of that they were beaten by Lazio in the Italian Super Cup and by Napoli in the Coppa Italia.
A decent run in the Champions League may have saved Sarri's skin, but their shock defeat to Lyon - who finished seventh in French Ligue 1 - proved to be his final act.
