Aaron Ramsey's Juventus transfer: Arsenal midfielder signs lucrative four-year deal with Serie A club

Aaron Ramsey will join Juventus in the summer after signing a pre-contract agreement with the Serie A club, bringing his 11-year stay at Arsenal to an end.

The 28-year-old’s contract will be up at the end of the current campaign after he rejected Arsenal’s offer of a new deal in September, and the club subsequently failed to meet his wage demands.

It is reported Ramsey will earn around £400,000 per week in Turin, making the Wales international the highest paid British player in history.

A Juventus club statement read: “Juventus Football Club announces that a contract of employment with the player Aaron James Ramsey, effective as of 1st July 2019 and expiring on 30 June 2023, has been signed. As a result of the registration of the player, Juventus will incur additional costs of €3.7m (£3.24m), to be paid within 10th July 2019.”

Ramsey has been frustrated with Unai Emery’s tactics this season, which he believes do not suit his strengths as a midfielder advancing from a No8 role. Emery typically plays two deep-lying midfielders behind a No10.

Ramsey said in a post on social media: “As you may have already heard, I have agreed a pre-contract with Juventus Football Club.

“I wanted to issue a personal statement for all the Arsenal fans who have been extremely loyal and supportive. You welcomed me as a teenager and have been there for me through all the highs and lows I’ve encountered during my time at the club. It is with a heavy heart that I leave after 11 incredible years in North London. Thank you.

“I will continue to give the team 100% and hope to finish the season strongly, before heading on to my next chapter in Turin.”
