Justin Trudeau’s popularity continues to rise as he continues to portray a human side to a world leader.
After greeting Syrian refugees at the airport, promoting a work-life balance by clearing a day in his schedule to celebrate his wedding anniversary, appointing a cabinet which had a truly 50/50 gender equality split "because it's 2015" and hugging pandas, Mr Trudeau has now been pictured dancing and celebrating at Toronto's Pride festival.
The 44-year-old became Canada’s first head of government to take part in a Pride festival to celebrate and support LGBT communities when he joined the parade on Sunday.
The Prime Minister was pictured at the celebrations wearing a pink shirt, waving a rainbow version of the Canadian flag and fully getting into the swing of celebrations by dancing in the street.
Mr Trudeau told reporters at the parade he was frustrated it was viewed as a “big thing” that he attended and that he’s been going to Pride for several years.
“For me, it’s just another great Pride celebration. I’ve been coming to this for years and it's sort of frustrating that it has to be a big thing,” he told Toronto news outlet CP24. “It shouldn’t be a big thing that the Prime Minister is walking in the Pride parade and from now on it won’t.”
At the festivities, Mr Trudeau also said his government is looking into introducing gender-neutral identity cards
The Pride festivities, which have been marked around the world over the past couple of weeks, have this year featured poignant tributes to the victims of the mass shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando just over three weeks ago.
