Justin Timberlake struggled to remember his own lyrics after urine was thrown at him at a gig

Justin Timberlake has said he struggled to remember his own lyrics on stage after urine was thrown at him.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Timberlake told of how Mick Jagger invited him to play at a charity concert in Toronto, joining The Rolling Stones and AC/DC on the line up.

“It was a bit of a blur,” he said, “but I remember saying to the band before we went on stage, ‘I don’t think this is gonna go well.’ I had no idea how bad it was going to go, because we came on stage and all of a sudden, from the first two rows of probably half a million people, bottles of urine were then thrown on the stage.”

Laughing, he told fellow guests Anna Kendrick, Oti Mabuse and Alan Carr: “It wasn’t always good times for me, you guys.”

He added: “So many questions were going through my brain as I tried to remember lyrics that I actually wrote for the first song I was playing.”

Describing having to dodge flying urine while singing at the microphone, he said: “I still have a lot of trauma from this incident.”
