Justin McLaughlin fundraiser launched as heartbroken loved ones raise thousands for murdered teen's funeral

Heartbroken loved ones of murdered schoolboy Justin McLaughlin have raised nearly £5,000 to cover funeral costs.

Justin was found seriously hurt after an “altercation” in broad daylight at Glasgow’s High Street station.

He died shortly after being rushed to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

An extensive investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The fundraiser, launched by the family of Justin's school friend, has a target of £5,000 and was sitting at £4,399 on Monday morning.

Stacey Everett, who started the fundraiser, described Justin as a "happy, kind and loving boy who had his whole life ahead of him".

She wrote: "As you are all aware Stephanie and Anthony tragically lost their son Justin yesterday to tragic circumstances.

Justin was a happy, kind and loving boy who had his whole life ahead of him but it tragically ended so soon at the young age of 14 years old.

"As he was so young there are no funeral funds in place, so please help us to give Justin the proper send off he deserves.

"I am wanting to show my support for my son's friend - his mum, dad, brothers and all the family at this devastating time. Whether it be used for funeral costs, financial support for the family. Any contributions however big or small will be much appreciated.

"Stephanie, Anthony, his brothers and all the family are very much in our thoughts right now. Let's show her how much Justin was loved by his friends, family and local community.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time."

Hundreds of people have contributed to the fundraiser.

One donator wrote: "Can only imagine your pain. Tragic loss of a young boy."

Another said "fly high wee yin".

Another added: "Absolutely heartbreaking. Despicable actions taking a young boys life in that soulless manner. So very sorry this happened to you young one and your family. Thoughts are with your loved ones".
