Justin Kluivert's Arsenal transfer prediction could prove right amid claims of swap deal

Justin Kluivert has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

According to Il Romanista, the Gunners could ask for the Roma forward as part of a swap deal that would see Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has spent this season on loan in the Italian capital and has rediscovered some of his previous form, join the Serie A outfit permanently.

And Kluivert has raised hopes of a move by previously admitted that he could see himself playing for Arsenal.

Prior to leaving Ajax for Roma in the summer of 2018, the forward said he would jump at the chance to play for the Gunners - as well as several other top European clubs.

James Benge Arsenal Q&A

"If you get a nice offer, you never know," he told Helden.

"England appeals to me: Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea or Manchester United are nice clubs where I can see myself playing in a few years."

Kluivert, whose father represented Barcelona for six years, also added that he'd have no problems moving to the Camp Nou, but also added that this wouldn't necessarily mean a switch to their great rivals Real Madrid would be off the table.

"Everywhere I go abroad they know my father and he often asked: 'Come to Barcelona, I'll give a tour of Camp Nou'," he added.

"I really wanted to go to Barcelona instead of Real Madrid. Barcelona is in my heart, but who am I to say no to Real Madrid?"

Kluivert was previously given a ringing endorsement of a potential move to Arsenal, with former Ajax teammate Hakim Ziyech also admitting that the Gunners was one of his dream clubs.

Ziyech attracted attention from several clubs across Europe after standing out for Ajax in their excellent run to the Champions League semi-final last season.

He also impressed against Chelsea in the Champions League earlier this season, which persuaded the Blues to complete a £36.6 million deal for the playmaker in February and the player is due to officially complete his move next month.

However, Ziyech's previous comments suggest that he may have preferred a move to another club in England, having been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham in the past.

In an old video during their Ajax days, Ziyech took part in a Q&A with Kluivert where he revealed that it was his 'dream' to play for Arsenal.

Asked which club he'd like to play for in the future, he responded: "Well, I have two clubs. They are Arsenal and Barcelona. That is my ultimate dream."

In the same sequence of questions, Ziyech was asked whether he has a footballing idol, and he said: "Yes, I actually do have one. [Mesut] Ozil."

When Kluivert joked if he is better than the German playmaker, Ziyech replied: "No, I’m not even close to Ozil’s level."
