Justin Jefferson is impressing Vikings early in camp

The Vikings drafted wide receiver Justin Jefferson with the 22nd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft with hopes he can give the Vikings a dynamic option on offense outside of Adam Thielen.

So far, Jefferson has been the player the Vikings hoped they were drafting. Jefferson has impressed the most important person in the room, too: Offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak.

“He’s exactly what we drafted,” Kubiak said Sunday via NFL.com. “We knew he was a very talented young man who had a comfort zone in the slot because he did that a lot.

Jefferson has been working more with the second team than the first team, but that shouldn’t be a surprise considering Jefferson’s a rookie and it’s early in camp.

When the season starts in about three weeks from now, it would be a surprise and a disappointment if Jefferson wasn’t the WR2 opposite of Thielen.

With no preseason games, though, we won’t be able to see any of the rookie out of LSU before that decision is made.
