Justin Houston listed as Colts ‘most dangerous new weapon’

The Indianapolis Colts have brought in a number of new faces to the roster this offseason as they look to continue a trend of being one of the AFC’s top contenders.

Among the new faces brought in that could have a strong impact early on is veteran edge rusher Justin Houston, who was listed as the team’s ‘most dangerous new weapon’ by Bleacher Report.

“In 2018 with the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston recorded nine sacks playing 61.0 percent of the defensive snaps. He doesn’t need an every-down role to impact the game in a significant way. His tendency to tip passes and attack the football should allow him to see the field just as much in Indianapolis.

Defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus will likely have a rotation at defensive end and coming off the edge in nickel alignments, which keeps Houston’s legs fresh. He’s a double-digit sack candidate for the next couple of years.”

The Colts have a promising corps of pass rushers entering the 2019 season. With veterans Houston and Jabaal Sheard leading the way while youngsters Kemoko Turay, Al-Quadin Muhammad and Tyquan Lewis develop their games, Indy should have a solid group all things considered.

It will be interesting to see how the Colts rotate the edge rushers. It isn’t yet clear if they will have Sheard and Houston work opposite each other or in tandem on the same side, but the duo should yield positive results given they stay healthy.

Some other new weapons that could make an impact include cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, linebacker Ben Banogu and wide receivers Devin Funchess and Parris Campbell.
