March 16--Justin Holiday is a fan of Drake the performer. He's not a fan of the perception of Drake the game-changer.
Social media erupted late Monday with videos and images of Drake, sitting courtside, talking to Holiday as Holiday failed to inbound the ball for a crucial 5-second call late in the Bulls' narrow victory over the Raptors in Toronto.
But Holiday said he never heard the Canadian rapper, who apparently was telling Holiday the Bulls were out of timeouts.
"I wasn't paying attention to him," Holiday said. "I was listening to the ref. The ref was talking to me at the time. And I had to focus on getting the ball in the play. I wasn't worried about what Drake was talking about.
"It is what it is. It's not that big of a deal. He's a big fan. He's a big fan of Toronto. He does a lot for them as far as supporting them. So, he's a good fan. At the same time, though, how much credit he's given for that play, I mean it was cute for a second but obviously he had nothing to do with the play and what happened with it."
Holiday said, "Every person that thinks they're family of mine" has sent him links of the replay. Holiday's favorite is one in which somebody photoshopped the rapper Meek Mill's face over his since Drake and Meek Mill have had a public issue with each other.
"That was hilarious," Holiday said. "The one with Meek Mill's face? That mess was funny."
Holiday is taking the whole incident in stride.
"He wasn't bothering me," Holiday said. "There were thousands of fans in the building yelling at me the same time. It's not like I'm going to hear just one guy yelling something."
