Justin Gaethje wants to fight Conor McGregor in Ireland and is open to facing him after Khabib Nurmagomedov bout

Justin Graethje craves the 'chaos' fighting Conor McGregor in Ireland would bring.

And ahead of his shot at undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov, he's reiterated an intention to take on McGregor - a challenge he issued in early 2019.

The American challenged McGregor to an Irish fight in March last year, and called out the Dubliner on Twitter last December.

And looking back on the tweet, Gaethje has reiterated his desire to take on McGregor after what he reckons will be a win over Khabib.

In a dig at the Notorious one, he claimed McGregor has lost the respect of many fighters and that he has no desire in cashing in on a financial windfall that a fighter with McGregor would bring.

"I tweeted that he [Conor] is losing his clout," he told ESPN.

"I don't mean [that] in general, like with the general public.

"But with fighters, man? This guy, he's losing so much respect in the game, [about] which he probably doesn't care.

"But to someone like me, and even him, I would assume that that matters a little bit."

Gaethje added: "He doesn't hold the cards right now! I put myself in a great position! I asked for a say in my destiny, and I went out there.

"And I showed up. I'm in a spot where I can pick between Khabib and Conor.

"If I wanna fight Conor, I can fight Conor. Believe me. Of course, why wouldn't Dana put [that fight] together? But that's not the fight I want!

"His only [play] is he's 'Mr. Red Panty-Night'. Not everybody's a greedy motherf**ker like him. I think, for one, whenever I beat Khabib and then I beat Conor, in these times, under this microscope, [that is] legendary."

The Notorious has been spending time with his fiancee Dee Devlin in Monaco in recent weeks as he prepares for a water biking contest with the Princess of Monaco.

It begins in Corsica on September 12 and finishes at Monaco's Yacht Club the following day.

Sharing training pictures on his Instagram account last week, McGregor commented: "Another day closer to #TheCrossing!

"Great work today with her highness Princess Charlene of Monaco!

"Training between the elements of night and day to prepare for our 180km voyage from Corsica to Monaco by sea bike. We are estimating upwards of 30 hours for completion. This September 12th!

"We are ready!"

Princess Charlene is both the event's chief organiser and the defending team champion and trained with McGregor when they met earlier in the summer.

Welcoming McGregor to her team, she said: "@thenotoriousmma welcome to the team ,so happy to have you on board with this challenge.

"Was great meeting and training with you!".
