Justin Gaethje says tables have turned on Conor McGregor: ‘This dude is on his knees’ now

Justin Gaethje has been calling out Conor McGregor for years, but now, to Gaethje’s amusement, the shoe is on the other foot, and McGregor now wants to fight him.

Gaethje (22-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) was crowned interim lightweight champion when he battered Tony Ferguson until a fifth-round stoppage last week in the main event of UFC 249.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the plan is to have Gaethje unify against champion Khabib Nurmadomedov in September, but McGregor (22-4 MMA, 10-2 UFC) is confident that he’ll slide in to face Gaethje next instead.

McGregor went on a Twitter rant this week as he put the top 155-pound contenders on blast. He also suggested Nurmagomedov won’t make it to the fight with Gaethje and that he would step in.

Gaethje, however, is having none of that. He reminded McGregor of all the times he called out the Irishman and was ignored by posting a video compilation Thursday on Instagram.

Isn’t it ironic that this dude is on his knees. Careful @thenotoriousmma you are losing your clout. Poirer sitting there ready to go like I was for the last 3 years. #gaethjevskhabib @tmz_tv

Gaethje went on to accuse McGregor of clout chasing and even suggested that the Irishman should face Dustin Poirier in a rematch instead.

Gaethje has stopped his last four opponents and now, having captured interim gold, has stated that his sole intention is to face undefeated Nurmagomedov.
