We’ve been waiting on the oddsmakers to get on this now that Fields has been declared immediately eligible, and we finally have some updated odds to win the Heisman in 2019 per Westgate.
And, yes, Fields has moved up based on his status and now — at least according to this sportsbook — has the third best odds to win the most coveted trophy in all of sports.
As you can see in the graphic shared by ESPN, Fields is tied with another transfer Jalen Hurts at Oklahoma with six to one odds. In front of them are the favorite Tua Tagovailo (5-2) from Alabama and Trevor Lawrence (3-1) of Clemson. All quarterbacks.
Though this speaks more for the potential Fields’ possesses, he still has to win the starting job over presumably Matthew Baldwin in the fall, learn the playbook, and do well in actual live American football.
But we shall see. There’s no denying the talent he has, it’s just a matter of if and when he puts it all together.
