Justin Fields is petitioning for the Big Ten to reinstate the 2020 season

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is pushing for a Big Ten college football season, even after the conference elected to postpone the season until the spring, a scheduling nightmare for top prospects like Fields, who are expected to go high in the 2021 NFL Draft.

“We want to play,” Fields wrote for the petition, which he shared on social media on Sunday morning. “We believe that safety protocols have been established and can be maintained to mitigate concerns of exposure to Covid 19. We believe that we should have the right to make decisions about what is best for our health and our future. Don’t let our hard work and sacrifice be in vain. #LetUsPlay!”

The Big Ten postponed the season after struggling to find a solution to playing amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. The conference joins the Pac-12 as the two conference that have decided to try to move to the spring.

Fields joins fellow high-profile quarterback Trevor Lawrence in advocating for a a college football season.
