A week before the Canadian singer turned 22, Justin Bieber surprised the NHS Choir that beat him to 2015’s Christmas Number One.
Bieber met the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir’s 40 members before presenting them with the Official Christmas Number One Chart Award.
The amateur group in turn presented the Canadian with an award to commemorate being the first artist to ever hold the top three spots at the same time.
During the battle for 2015’s Christmas Number One, Bieber himself asked his fans to buy the NHS Choir’s charity single ‘A Bridge Over You’ instead of his own potential chart topper, ‘Love Yourself’.
He took to Twitter to show his support for the cause, saying "For one week it's ok not to be Number One. Let's do the right thing and help them win. It's Christmas".
The Grammy-winning star told OfficialCharts.com: "I was honoured to meet everyone from the choir and I’m really happy that they got their Number One".
Katie Rogerson, a junior doctor and spokesperson for the choir, said how “he not only recognised our mental health charities (MIND, SAMH and NIAMH) and Carers UK, but also acknowledged every single member of our hardworking NHS team across the UK.”
