Justin Bieber sets an impossible standard for Hailey with a new definition of cheating makes everyone an adulterer

Justin Bieber is causing a huge debate after he shared his unique and extremely strict definition of cheating during a recent Twitch stream. The pop star, who has been live-streaming on the platform daily, went from talking about gaming to espousing some pretty controversial beliefs that have since gone viral. The core of his statement is that he essentially believes that a fleeting thought is the same as the act itself.

Bieber didn’t hold back, telling his viewers, “If you even think of a woman with lust, it’s the same thing as actually doing it.” He went on to say, “Committing adultery, whatever. Like, it’s the same thing. If it even just crosses your mind for one second.” This one comment has really stirred the pot online because, for some, it redefines what it means to be faithful to a partner.

This is especially true for his wife, Hailey. If even a single fleeting thought is considered a betrayal, then the bar for fidelity is set impossibly high, turning practically everyone into an adulterer. This was first found by Daily Dot, which has a more liberal opinion on it. I won’t comment on the religious aspect of it; I’m only saying that this is what Bieber believes.

Hailey has a really strict husband

Not everyone subscribes to that belief, and many people feel like there’s a huge leap between a thought, which you can’t always control, and an action that actively causes others harm. You are your thoughts, definitely, that is your true self, but I’m sure that you think certain things you wouldn’t act on.

Bieber’s remarks have naturally sparked a fierce debate across social media. Some fans praised his take, suggesting it proves he’s a man who will always be completely devoted to Hailey with every thought. One user on X noted, “This is literally in the bible. He’s a god fearing man, and y’all in the replies are trying to flip it. he shows how much he respects his wife with different things and y’all pick NOT to believe it.”

Another user agreed, saying, “He’s [100%] correct! Same for a woman if she is dressing provocative and a man looks upon her lustfully not only is she sinning but she is causing him to sin.” It seems there are plenty of people who feel like this viewpoint raises the bar for men and what should be expected in a relationship.

On the other hand, many people found his stance completely absurd, pointing out the mental strain such a belief can cause. “JB’s interpretation of lust as adultery is a classic example of how religious dogma can distort personal relationships,” one user argued, stating that equating thought with action “is promoting an unrealistic standard that ignores human nature and the complexity of emotions.”

Either way, the conversation is buzzing. The change from “Baby, baby, baby oh” to “Thou shalt not think lustfully” is an interesting rebrand for the pop icon, but it’s definitely food for thought for anyone in a relationship.
