Happy birthday to Justin Bieber, who is 25 years old today. While the meaningful gifts will undoubtedly be rolling in from his new wife Hailey Bieber and his other celebrity friends, one entirely unexpected gift for the singer has made our day.
To celebrate Justin Bieber and his unconventional obsession with hotel slippers, a company has officially registered his birthday, 1st March, as National Hotel Slipper Day - and they have the certificate to prove it.
While you’re likely to see Justin Bieber out and about rocking a pair of sleek trainers, he’s also frequently been photographed running around town in a pair of comfy hotel slippers. Online booking site Hotels.com took notice and registered National Hotel Slipper Day in his honour “for his passion for rocking hotel slippers across the years”.
They shared a photograph of the official declaration on Twitter, which was framed and filed with National Day Archives. The certificate reads, “This certificate hereby states that March 1 of each calendar year is officially designated as National Hotel Slipper Day."
It continues, "Submitted by Hotels.com in February 2019, and in accordance with the policies set forth, this proclamation has been certified by the National Day Archives, LLC.”
Bieber’s love of hotel slippers has long been documented and in fact, the star even designed his own for his brand Drew House. The slippers, which retailed for £3.77 last year, had the brand’s smiley face logo printed onto them and sold out almost instantly, according to Billboard.
Hailey Bieber also appears to have been roped in as an ambassador, as she posted a photo of herself wearing the brand’s slippers last Christmas.
Although his love of the good old white classics abounds, he also recently showed off a decadent upgrade to his wardrobe staple: a pair of mink fur Louis Vuitton slippers which retail for over £1,100. According to Louis Vuitton’s official site, the shoes are “fully lined with mink” and are also available in pink. (Perhaps Hailey has a matching pair?)
The brand wrote, “Hotels.com would like to officially thank Justin Bieber, and his fellow hotel-slipper-loving brothers and sisters around the world for making this dream become reality.”
