Justin Bieber’s mum, Pattie Mallette, recently set off a wave of fan concern after she posted a heartfelt prayer for her son on Instagram.
On September 22, she shared a series of photos of Justin, writing, “I declare freedom, strength, clarity, and healing over you Justin. Every chain of fear, confusion, heaviness, and pain — be broken in Jesus’ name. Holy Spirit, surround him with TRUTH, LIGHT, and PROTECTION. HEAL EVERY WOUND in his heart, mind and body, seen and unseen, restore what’s been stolen, and cover him in WHOLENESS”.

She went on, “Fill him to OVERFLOWING with Your LOVE and COMFORT. Continue to raise him up as a voice for Your Kingdom, unshaken and on fire for You Lord. Silence every voice that doesn’t come from You, and let his life be a bold witness of Your power, love, and healing grace. Say amen if you agree”.

Mallette didn’t specify any particular reason for her post, and the affectionate but serious tone left followers speculating if something deeper was going on.
Justin responded a few weeks later, with a short but pointed comment: “Only thing I need healing from is my rolled pinky toe from playing ping pong”.
Two days before his mum’s post, Bieber had shared a spiritual message of his own. In a September 20 Instagram post, he reflected on faith and fame, writing that “Jesus teaches that our effort is simply a response to being gifted life and forgiveness”. He added that growth “becomes something you desire because of the grace we have received”.
The timing of both posts drew attention partly because Bieber has been candid in recent years about his mental and physical health. In 2022, he postponed his Justice World Tour after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which temporarily paralysed part of his face. As of mid-2025, he’s largely stayed out of major touring schedules but has stayed active creatively.

His latest album, Swag II, dropped on September 5 and features religion-tinged tracks like “Story of God” and “Everything Hallelujah”. He also wore a “Pray for Me” tee in the video for “Speed Demon”, a not-so-subtle nod to the faith and healing themes that have carried through this era of his music.
Behind the scenes,PEOPLE reported last month that Bieber and wife Hailey are “doing really well” after “overcoming challenges” together. The couple celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on September 13 and recently marked their son Jack Blues’ first birthday in August. A source told the outlet that “becoming parents has only deepened their bond”.
So while Pattie Mallette might be invoking divine healing from a more symbolic place, Bieber seems to be telling fans (and his mum) that things are, for the most part, okay — ping pong injuries included.
