This year’s V Festival will celebrate its 21st birthday by enlisting pop titans Justin Bieber and Rihanna for its event.

The first wave of acts are spearheaded by both the Canadian and Barbadian stars, who both perform UK exclusives at the festival this summer.

The event follows a huge wave of success in Britain for Bieber, who broke UK chart records by simultaneously holding the No 1, No 2 and No 3 spots in the UK single charts.

Rihanna, meanwhile, will return to the festival after her previous headline slot in 2011. That is, of course, if the issues with her Anti dates are cleared up by August: the singer recently cancelled a series of shows: her Grammys performance, and two gigs have been axed, delaying the start of her coming world tour to promote her album.

Aside from its headliners, other confirmed acts span pop – Sia, Fleur East, Foxes, Little Mix, All Saints, Jess Glynne, Years & Years, Rita Ora, Halsey; EDM and dance - David Guetta, Faithless, DJ EZ, Craig David’s TS5, Katy B; indie – Kaiser Chiefs, Travis, Bastille, Jake Bugg; and rap and grime - Tinie Tempah, Example and Lethal Bizzle.

Taking place across two sites – Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire – V Festival spans the weekend of the 20 and 21 August 2016. Tickets for the event will go on sale on Friday 26 February.
