Ask any designer to define 2025 with one color, and yellow is likely to enter the conversation. We've spotted this tone everywhere from paints to ceramics to pillows and throws – and now, the perfect accent chair.
The piece in question comes courtesy of Hailey Bieber, who shared a glimpse into her and Justin's New York living room. While I was initially distracted by the couple's iconic Dune sofa (by French furniture designer Pierre Paulin), their yellow accent chair deserves a moment of its own.
While decorating with yellow presents its challenges (most notably because of its vibrancy, especially in minimalist rooms), this yellow chair shows it's possible to do both. Hailey has managed to maintain a chic, refined, and neutral aesthetic in the living room, but the addition of a pop of yellow keeps things unexpected and fun. Better yet, it teaches us a lesson that's replicable in any-sized living room, and on almost any budget.

This Space Age-inspired cantilever chair originates from Italy in the 1980s. Its unique, curved shape mirrors the chair we see in Hailey's living room. Plus, it comes in a vintage yellow mustard hue, in case we couldn't love it any more.
Inspired by modern design elements and rendered in boucle fabric, the barrel-back tripod frame provides a bold architecture for the plushly padded seat. The half-surrounded armrest is integrated into the backrest just like holding you in arms.
If you still want to experiment with the trend without investing in a chair, this pillow is a great starting point. The velvet fabric has a delicate texture and is soft and wrinkle-resistant, meaning it will look great on your sofa or accent chair for longer.
When styled correctly, a yellow chair like Justin and Hailey Bieber's makes a statement without overpowering a room. It is, therefore, important to pair such a piece alongside the right shades.
'When it comes to pairing butter yellow with other colours, the first thing to decide is what mood you want to set,' comments Amthal Karim, the head of design at Furniture And Choice. Hailey has chosen neutrals, which Amthal agrees with. However, you can also opt for a soft pink if you want to create a more welcoming space.
'Butter yellow with baby pink creates a cute or feminine feel, while pairing it with neutrals like light grey and off-white gives it a contemporary and sophisticated edge,' she says. 'Lively earth tones like teal, turquoise, and deep greens give the room a cheerful and natural feel. Pastels like mint, lilac, or baby blues create a light-hearted and joyful effect when paired with yellow.'
To ensure the look feels modern (even while decorating with vintage pieces), Amthal also recommends choosing contemporary silhouettes that ensure this color trend feels contemporary and never dated.
'To prevent the room from feeling dated, stick to modern silhouettes when decorating. Choose interior styles like Scandinavian interiors, mid-century modern, or modern farmhouse that favour clean lines and uncluttered spaces,' Amthal says.
