Justice League director Zack Snyder has revealed which Marvel Comics story he would like to adapt as a film.

Snyder is known for his association with Marvel’s rival, DC Comics, directing 2013’s Man of Steel and serving as a producer on films including Suicide Squad, Aquaman and Wonder Woman.

Speaking to Comic Book Debate, the filmmaker named the Marvel film which would tempt him to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I would choose Elektra Lives Again,” he said. “It's a graphic novel about Elektra. Daredevil is having these dreams about Elektra coming back to life, and it's really cool and weird… it's just cool and beautiful.”

“That's what I would do. No-one cares, but that's what I would do.”

Elektra Lives Again,  by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley, was published in 1990, and focused on the Marvel characters Daredevil and Elektra.

While the MCU began as a series of films centring on some of Marvel’s best-known characters, such as the Hulk and Captain America, it has since encompassed increasingly esoteric heroes, such as Ant-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Moon Knight (who is set to feature in a Disney+ series).

Snyder is currently working on an extended cut of 2017’s Justice League, which will be released as a four-part series on the US streaming service HBO Max.
