'Justice' - Gary Lineker responds to Newcastle United's disallowed goal vs Liverpool

Gary Lineker thinks Newcastle United got "justice" with Joe Willock's late equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Reds led the Magpies for the majority of the match, after Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the opening stages on Merseyside.

Willock was on hand for Steve Bruce 's side yet again to score a late goal and ensure the points were shared with the reigning champions.

But Newcastle thought they'd levelled the match just moments before that when Callum Wilson bundled the ball past Alisson and into the back of the net.

However, Wilson was denied of the glory with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) spotting a handball in the build-up.

Even though Wilson clearly didn't handle the ball intentionally, under this season's laws, it is a foul.

Willock's equaliser with one of the last kicks of the match ensured there was "justice" for the visitors at Anfield, according to Match of the Day presenter Lineker.

He took to his Twitter page to say: "I’d say that was justice.

"VAR is the next thing that needs sticking in a giant bin alongside the ESL (European Super League)."

The controversial Super League has been in the headlines for the past week after six English clubs - including Liverpool - confirmed their interest in joining the 'breakaway' competition.

All six clubs have since pulled out, though, but it is still a subject on everyone's lips.

For Newcastle, it has been business as usual this week and they carried on their upturn in form with a solid performance against the Reds.

Bruce's side are now nine points clear of the bottom three after picking up a point on Merseyside.
