'Justice for Jairo!' Some Crystal Palace fans can't believe Hodgson decision vs Sheffield United

Some Crystal Palace fans are in disbelief this afternoon after player of the month Jairo Riedewald was dropped by Roy Hodgson for the game against Sheffield United.

The Eagles host the Blades at Selhurst Park this afternoon, in the first game since the January transfer window closed, after Palace failed to make a signing on transfer deadline day, with a deal to sign Nathan Ferguson from West Bromwich Albion falling through over a medical issue.

That meant Cenk Tosun was the only new arrival for the Palace first team in January, with the Eagles' other new signing Scott Banks heading out on loan as he joined Scottish side Alloa Athletic on deadline day.

And with Tosun currently out injured, there are no new signings on show for Palace as they take on Sheffield United in the Premier League at Selhurst Park this afternoon.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson has made four changes to his side for the game, with Luka Milivojevic and Christian Benteke returning to the starting line-up.

But it is one decision in particular that has riled some Palace fans, after the Eagles' player of the month was replaced by Patrick van Aanholt at left-back.

Here's what they have been saying on social media.

Palace go into the game against the Blades in 11th place in the Premier League, with 30 points from 24 games so far this season.

Their opponents currently sit three points better off, with Chris Wilder's men eighth in the table with 33 points from 24 games after enjoying a fine campaign so far on their return to the top flight.

However, a win for Palace would move them level with their opponents.
