‘Just words on paper’: People troll Mike Johnson as he brags about having ’60 or 70 pages of ideas” for healthcare reform, but no concrete plan

House Speaker Mike Johnson has made a name for himself in American politics for all the wrong reasons. Since Trump began his second term as President of the United States this year, Johnson has appeared in front of the media and people on multiple occasions and blatantly lied. His most aggressive campaign of spreading misinformation and falsehoods has been during the ongoing government shutdown, wherein he has been appearing daily, lying, spreading hate, deflecting questions about Republican accountability, and blaming the Democrats for everything.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Mike Johnson is not acting out of the ordinary, as he is speaking in a manner that has become his trademark style. When asked about the Republican plan to replace Obamacare, Johnson stated that the experts in this area have been working “around the clock for a long time.” He also claimed that he and the other individuals involved in the process published around 60 to 70 pages of reforms in 2019. While that is fine, Mike Johnson still did not admit to the presence of a healthcare plan that could replace the existing one. This is a huge Republican setback and a recurring one, especially considering that the Party have frequently used the issue to blame and malign the Democrats.

People noticed Speaker Mike Johnson’s pattern of not delivering on his promises after watching him speak on Fox News. They turned to social media platforms, such as X (formerly Twitter), to analyse the situation. One individual, under one such video of Johnson, wrote:

“Calling a stack of ideas a plan doesn’t make it one. Speaker Johnson still has no concrete healthcare solution, just words on paper while people keep paying more for care they can’t afford.”

Another person wrote:

“Republicans have had concepts of a healthcare plan since 2013. Trump said that we’d see his healthcare plan in two weeks, NINE years ago. At the pace Republicans get things done, my unborn children will be grandparents before we see anything of value from Republicans.”
