With the booming beauty industry, physicians have jumped on the bandwagon by creating skincare products. Their medical knowledge and experience in treating patients lend credibility to the brand, whose concept and products differ according to each doctor's expertise.
Here are some of the doctor beauty brands and their prescriptions, dispensed at BFF multi-label stores.
111Skin
Cosmetic surgeon Dr Yannis Alexandrides named his brand after the address of his clinic, 111 Harley Street in London. His formulas promise efficient skin penetration and performance that replicate in-clinic treatments.
A collaboration with space scientists, who researched on the acceleration of ageing in astronauts, led to development of signature ingredients. The Reparative collection features NAC Y2, a trio of antioxidant actives, while the Intensive Celestial Black Diamond Collection contains diamond microspheres that deliver active ingredients into the skin.
Dr Barbara Sturm

The German aesthetics doctor collaborated with Pittsburgh and Harvard Universities' scientists in developing Molecular Cosmetics, based on the use of the body's own proteins in skin anti-ageing and regeneration.
Best-sellers include hydrating Hyaluronic Serum containing highly concentrated long- and short-chain hyaluronic molecules, Sun Drops with SPF 50 for protection against UV rays, and Glow Drops with anti-ageing compounds and mineral pigments.
Royal Fern
A dermatologist with training in naturopathy, Dr Timm Golueke was inspired by how fern has adapted to the earth's changing state for over 400 million years.

In collaboration with renowned research scientist Prof Leonhard Zastrow and his team, the German doctor developed the Royal Fern Complex, which is a combination of highly concentrated fern extracts with other natural substances. This signature ingredient powers the Royal Fern Phytoactive formulas that help the skin fight back signs of ageing.
Goldfaden MD
American dermatologist Dr Gary Goldfaden developed plant-based skincare products to mimic the effects of in-office cosmetic procedures.

An at-home microdermabrasion can be achieved by applying Doctor's Scrub Ruby Crystal Microderm Exfoliator, which removes dead cells from the surface while hydrating the skin through hyaluronic acid.
Needle-Less Line Smoothing Concentrate also contains hyaluronic acid as well as hexapeptides and seaweed extract, to help promote a firmer and youthful-looking complexion.
VENeffect
American OB-GYN Dr Rebecca Booth and her sister Cecil founded VENeffect, which refers to the Venus Effect -- an anti-ageing solution to restore skin when at peak hormonal vitality.
Oestrogen is vital to every aspect of femininity, including the beauty of the skin. From a woman's late 20s, declining hormones lead to loss of skin tone and elasticity, resulting in fine lines and wrinkles.
Replenishment through phyto-oestrogens is the basis in formulating VENeffect skincare products to counteract skin ageing.
