Liverpool have been warned against paying the release clause of Arnaut Danjuma.
The Reds have been linked with the Villarreal forward in recent months, with a fresh report claiming they are expressing an interest.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are monitoring Danjuma with a view to a possible move, with the player having a €75million (£62.7m) release clause in his contract.
It has also been claimed that Villarreal, who only signed the Holland international from Bournemouth last summer, would be unwilling to let the 24-year-old go so soon into his deal - unless a club left them no choice.

And former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips believes that Danjuma’s release clause is 'too much' for a player with just two year’s experience in the Premier League.
“That’s too much, for me,” Phillips told Football Insider.
“£65m for a player who has only had two good seasons is an awful lot of money.
“Spending that sort of money can easily backfire, and I think we’ve seen that with the Jadon Sancho deal at Man United. Liverpool can certainly learn lessons from that deal – because it clearly hasn’t worked out yet.
“I’d be slightly concerned if I were to pay that sort of huge transfer fee. He’s a good player, don’t get me wrong. If you could get him for around £45m then that would be more like it, but £65m is just too much.
“There are better players out there for that price tag.”
