Just one part of the Liverpool City Region records a drop in positive Covid tests

Only one area of the Liverpool City Region recorded a slight drop in Covid infections.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, Halton recorded 392 positive tests in the week ending August 14 - 12 fewer cases than the previous seven days.

This means the week on week percentage change dropped by 3% in Halton.

The other five areas of the Liverpool City Region recorded rises in positive Covid tests in the week ending August 14.

In Knowsley, the week on week percentage change increase was 4%; in St Helens it was 11%; in Liverpool it was 2%; and in Wirral it was 8%. For the Liverpool City Region overall, the rise was 6%.

Cheshire West and Chester, and Warrington also saw rises in positive Covid tests. While West Lancashire recorded a drop in positive cases.

Infections increased in England. In the week ending August 14, England had 174,023 coronavirus cases, which is 4,411 more cases than the week before.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,830 cases in the week ending August 14, which is 28 more cases than in the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change increased by 2%.

The latest infection rate was 365.7 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 392 positive tests over the last week, which is a dozen fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 3% in the week ending August 14. The latest infection rate is 302.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Knowsley

There was a total of 594 cases in the week ending August 14, which is 25 more cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 389.6 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases increased by 4% week on week.

Wirral

There were 964 positive tests in the week ending August 14, which is 69 more cases than in the previous week. Wirral's week-on-week percentage change increased by 8%. The latest infection rate was 297.2 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There were 690 positive tests in the week ending August 14, which is 68 more cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate was 381.0 cases per 100,000 people. The week-on-week percentage change in St Helens increased by 11%.

Sefton

There was a total of 888 cases in the week ending August 14, which is 103 more cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 321.9 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases increased by 13% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 5,358 positive tests over in the week ending August 14, which is 281 more cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change increased by 6%. The latest infection rate is 314.67 cases per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 272 coronavirus cases in the week ending August 14, which is 61 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This mean there was a week on week percentage decrease of 18% in infections.

The infection rate was 237.56 per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 727 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending August 14, which is 57 more cases than the previous week.

The week on week percentage figure increased by 9%. There was an infection rate of 347.19 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 952 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending August 14, which is 62 more cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 276.89 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage increase of 7% in cases.

England

In England in the week ending August 14, there was an infection rate of 307.73 per 100,000 people.

The nation recorded 174,023 coronavirus cases, which is 4,411 more cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week on week percentage increase of 3% in cases.
