OK - normally on a Monday we'd start off with a round-up, or a serious issue, or something substantial. Particularly when the paper's gone through a major redesign so the blogs might be getting a little more attention than usual.
But one of the biggest issues facing small business and owner/managers today will be: how do you keep your staff's attention on the job and away from the cricket? I'm no cricket fan myself - try ensnaring my attention when Wimbledon's on and that's another story - but even then, I'm as caught up in the day's events as anyone else.
I just heard on BBC London about an Australian who threw a sickie to go and see his cricket team play South Africa. He didn't know his boss had arranged a television for his office to watch the match, and there was this close-up of the crowd including said ill employee in a blonde afro wig. I'm expecting a lot of anecdotes like that tomorrow and I have sympathy for people who are actually unwell. People who've struggled in and want to keep abreast of what's going on can always have a quick flick through the Guardian's cricket pages - or there's the low-tech approach, where you put on something called a 'radio'.
Go on, be honest - are any of your staff off sick today? And are they genuinely ill? If we win, check for the ones that look hung over tomorrow.
