'Just missing Fede' - Newcastle United fans react to starting XI for Leicester City clash

Newcastle United are unchanged for the clash with Leicester City at King Power Stadium.

Eddie Howe has opted against making any changes to his starting XI following the 1-0 win against Burnley last weekend.

It is hardly surprising to see the same team picked for the trip to the East Midlands although there was one change that Magpies supporters wanted to see.

When we asked the fans who they wanted to see in the XI this afternoon, the centre-back pairing of Federico Fernandez and Fabian Schar was the most popular.

However, Jamaal Lascelles has retained his place in the backline where he will partner the Switzerland international.

Howe and the Newcastle fans will be hoping that Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton can continue to cause problems in attack where they will be looking to take advantage of Leicester’s leaky defence.

Like the Magpies, Brendan Rodgers’ side have kept just one clean sheet in the league all season, on the opening day against Wolves.

Optimism is really building within the fanbase on the back of last week’s victory but Fernandez is still the man that the fans want to see in the starting XI.

Here is what a few of them have had to say on Twitter.

@agbnufc_ said : “Come on lads this is massive. Just missing Fede for perfect 11.”

@presley_jon added : “Fede in for Lascelles and that’s a good line up.”

@Man_About_Toon claimed : “Close to perfect. As good as Lascelles was last week I can't palate leaving out our best CB Fernandez. Would also be happy pushing Schar out for him, either way.”

@AhOkayThen said : “I’m happy with the 11 and depending on half time score line, the bench can do some good damage.”
