Just how good is rumoured Liverpool transfer target Bruno Fernandes? We asked Football Manager

Liverpool's have a team full of world class players in every position, making up one of the strongest squads in world football.

However, some argue that the Reds are missing a creative midfielder, something they haven't had since Philippe Coutinho left the club.

The latest midfielder to be linked with a move to Anfield is Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes who, on the face of it, would certainly fit the bill.

But, just how good is Bruno Fernandes?

And, how does he compare to Liverpool's current midfielders?

(Football Manager 2019)

According to Football Manager 2019, Fernandes is a midfielder with superb technical ability, who can both score and create goals.

Not only does the 24-year-old have strong passing, vision, first touch, technique, vision and decisions, he also has great long shots, composure and finishing ability.

He can play in both attacking midfield and in central midfield, but due to his poor defensive attributes, including weak marking, tackling, heading and anticipation, he will likely need a more defensively minded midfielder next to him if he's played deeper.

Fernandes is a player who can influence games in a number of different ways, which makes him a really dangerous midfielder, with a good mix of attributes, attributes that no other Liverpool midfielder can offer.

The Portugal international has a current ability of 152 out of 200 on Football Manager 2019, to put that into context, that means he's at a similar level to the likes of Naby Keita (153), Gini Wijnaldum (155) and Fabinho (156), so he would fit in to the squad nicely.

But, Fernandes still has room for improvement, with a potential ability of 161 out of 200. This would make him Liverpool's best midfielder, much better than Jordan Henderson (156).

Football Manager 2019 suggests that Fernandes would be an excellent signing for Liverpool this summer and offers something that no other Reds midfielder can, which would give Klopp an extra bit of quality ahead of next season.
