Just five neighbourhoods in Perth and Kinross recording COVID cases as infection rate drops to six-month low

The seven-day COVID-19 infection rate in Perth and Kinross has dropped to its lowest level since October 2.

And 30 out of 35 neighbourhoods in the region are now considered to have suppressed the virus.

According to date from Public Health Scotland, on April 10, the weekly infection rate was 21.7 per 100,000, the same recorded on October 2.

It has not been lower than that figure since October 1.

Only 33 cases were recorded in Perth and Kinross from April 4 to April 10, with 1.3 per cent of tests returning a positive result.

The infection rate dropped by 44 per cent in the last week, having sat at 38.8 per 100,000 on April 3.

Only Viewlands, Craigie and Wellshill; Central and South Inch; Gannochy and Walnut Grove; Blairgowrie East; and Stanley and Murthly have enough cases to even record an infection rate.

It comes after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced the restriction for people to stay local would end on Friday.
