Just Eat signs delivery partnership with McDonald's

Online food delivery platform Just Eat has agreed a partnership with McDonald's in the UK and Ireland.

It is McDonald's second deal of its kind in the UK having launched McDelivery with Uber Eats in 2017. Just Eat itself recently announced a delivery partnership with Greggs.

Peter Duffy, Just Eat's interim CEO, said: ""We are delighted to announce that we have agreed to partner in the UK and Ireland with McDonald's. This partnership, along with our recently announced relationship with Greggs, will require significant investment but will accelerate our growth ambitions and enhance our market position by offering our customers the widest choice available."

In a trading update, Just Eat said results for the year ending 31 December 2019 were in line with expectations. It expects EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) of around £200 million, with revenue of approximately £1 billion. UK order growth in 2019 was 8%.

Duffy said: "We are pleased to confirm uEBITDA towards the top end and revenue broadly in line with the guidance range we provided at the start of 2019, notwithstanding the significant developments during the year."

The UK Competition and Markets Authority is investigating a proposed merger of Just Eat and Dutch-based competitor Takeaway.com
