MAGA has always insisted their movement was bigger than Donald Trump, and right now, they’re getting a chance to prove they’re right. For years, MAGA has been laser-focused on uncovering the truth behind the murky Jeffrey Epstein situation, with Trump and senior officials repeatedly promising they’d reveal all as soon as they could.
Expectations were sky high when Pam Bondi authoritatively said she had the Epstein client list “sitting on my desk right now”, raising hopes of an imminent reveal. Then it all came crashing down.
First, there was an abrupt U-turn when the Trump administration said the list that was on Bondi’s desk never actually existed at all. Then Trump himself took to Truth Social for a lengthy post not only demanding people forget the whole Jeffrey Epstein thing, but now insisting the Epstein files are a Democrat plot to undermine him:
“For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again. Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden administration.”
And wrapping up the lengthy post by ordering his followers not to “waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about”? Big words, given that Trump was repeatedly photographed with Epstein, flew on his private jet, partied with him at Mar-a-Lago, and described him as “a terrific guy” who liked women “on the younger side”.
Burn it all down
Now MAGA is in revolt, with many concluding the only logical reason why Trump is frantically backtracking is that he’s personally incriminated by the Epstein files and that there must be suppressed evidence of him visiting “Pedophile Island”:
Just burnt my MAGA hat.

Why the fuck would you go to that island? @realDonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/InxuvpgtlW
MAGA is officially done. I've never seen this level of betrayal and disappointment at any point during his presidency.

This is the level of betrayal I feel regarding the Epstein case. The way Trump responded and the fact that pedophiles and abusers are above the law is not something I can just ignore or turn the other cheek to. pic.twitter.com/w9DctLAso7

When I got arrested for J6 I did not cry.
But I’ll be honest with y’all
I was holding back tears when Donald Trump shut down the Epstein file release.
The betrayals are piling up.
I support what I was told I was voting for, not whatever the hell…
Posts like these are piling up, and even the most deeply Trumpian corners of the internet are bristling with anger against the President that would have been inconceivable even a few weeks ago. All of this means Trump’s decision to casually dismiss the (very reasonable) questions about what Epstein was really up to and insult his most passionate supporters in the process may go down as one of the greatest political blunders in recent years.
Who knows, maybe in the years and months to come, we’ll identify that Truth Social post as the moment the Trump train derailed and the beginning of the end of Donald J. Trump. In any event, we guess we have to extend some credit to MAGA for sticking to their guns, even if that means taking down their messiah.
