Arsenal fans have been reacting on social media following the news that the club have reportedly made a €40m + Lucas Torreira offer to Napoli for Kalidou Koulibaly.
Ian McGarry, speaking on the latest transfer window podcast, believes the Gunners have made a move for the defender, as new boss Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his backline.
“I’ve heard, although can’t confirm, that Arsenal have also made contact with Napoli through a third-party regarding Koulibaly,” the football writer said.
“This comes on the back of their desire under Mikel Arteta to strengthen their defence.
“And also that they’ve got some interest from Sead Kolasinac. So you could see the possibility of Kolasinac being offered to Napoli in part-exchange plus cash, although Di Laurentiis prefers cash for Koulibaly because he wants to strengthen his team up the Serie A table.”
Branded one of the best defenders in world football, it would be seen as a massive coup for the Gunners to get the deal done in Januay.
The centre-back has been linked with a host of clubs from around Europe in previous transfer windows, and only on Monday was linked with a move to Everton following Carlo Ancelotti's arrival at Goodison Park.
