A woman says she found something in her cheeseburger that should never be there: a pill. When she showed staff, she says they essentially shrugged it off.
Now her TikTok of the unsettling experience is going viral.
Skylin Hope’s (@skylinhope12) post has been viewed 2.1 million times since she posted it two days ago.
In the caption, she says the incident occurred at a Jack’s Family Restaurant in Anniston, Alabama.
A man at that location who identified himself as the area supervisor gave the Mary Sue the phone number of a company representative for inquiries about the viral TikTok. As of this writing, the representative had not responded to a voicemail left on Saturday morning.
‘Just an Excedrin’
Hope begins her TikTok by zooming in on an opened up cheeseburger. You can clearly see a large red pill in the middle.
She then marches up to the counter to show staff.
“Uh, there’s a pill in my food,” she says.
The cheeseburger is still in its wrapper. Nevertheless, a worker asks if she bought it from the restaurant.
“Yeah. Just like 10 minutes ago,” she responds.
A second worker identifies the pills as an Excedrin. The oblong red pill in Hope’s cheeseburger matches a photo of an Excedrin Tension Headache on Drugs.com.
“Do you want me to refund it?” one of the workers asks.
Hope responds, “Absolutely.”
In the caption on her TikTok, she says that the reaction was essentially “oh, that’s just an Excedrin,” and she was “actually in shock” over the experience.
“Quite frankly, I don’t care if it was a tick tac, this should never ever ever have happened,” she writes.
In the video, she says, “I would’ve like ate that if I wouldn’t have opened it up.”
A worker responds, “Sorry about that.”
Hope replies, “Yeah, it’s terrible. Absolutely terrible. Never in my life have I gotten a pill.”
The response to Hope’s TikTok is universal disgust and horror. People urged her to sue, call corporate, notify the health department, and pursue essentially any means of seeking relief and exposing Jack’s Family Restaurant.
“Call corporate, file a health department complaint, contact local police department,” urged one viewer.
Many were appalled by what they viewed as a lackluster reaction from staff.
“What if she was pregnant or on medication that cannot be mixed with excedrin? Why are they acting like it’s no big deal?” one wondered.
