Josh Jacobs surpasses Marcus Allen for Raiders rookie rushing record

Just about every week, Josh Jacobs has set a new mark for Raiders rookie rushing yards over the same number of games. Sunday, in his 8th game in the NFL, he just broke a Raiders rookie rushing mark regardless of the number of games.

Jacobs came into Sunday’s game with an impressive 620 yards rushing, putting him just 77 yards behind the Raiders rookie rushing record of 697 yards, set by Marcus Allen way back in 1982.

He had surpassed it by half time.

It was a 16-yard run at the 2:42 mark in the second quarter that officially gave Jacobs the record. That run was no arbitrary thing, either. It put the Raiders at the Detroit 24-yard-line and two plays later, Jacobs punched it in for a touchdown from three yards out. That run gave him his second touchdown of the game and 88 yards on 16 carries in the first half.

By the end of the third quarter, Jacobs had gone over 100 yards (110), giving him his third 100-yard game of the season. That ties the rookie record, which was also set by Marcus Allen in 1982.

By the end, Jacobs had amassed 120 yards on 28 carries with 2 touchdowns, giving him 720 yards and six touchdowns on the season. He leads all rookie running backs on the season in carries (152), yards, and touchdowns.

Yeah, he’s pretty good.
