Jurrell Casey sees similarity between Broncos and Titans

Defensive lineman Jurrell Casey is embarking on a new chapter in his career in 2020 as he prepares to play for a new team after the Tennessee Titans traded him to the Denver Broncos earlier this offseason.

However, the veteran already feels comfortable in his new home thanks to a big similarity he sees between Denver and Tennessee.

Casey spoke to the media via Zoom call on Tuesday and says the “kind, nice and straight sweethearts” he has met so far in Denver reminds him of his time in Tennessee. He also notes how that kind of atmosphere makes him love the game even more.

“Everybody that’s here reminds of me of Tennessee: kind, nice and straight sweethearts,” he said. “I love it because when you have a friendly, family atmosphere around you, it makes you come to work and makes you love this game a whole lot more. That’s something I love being around here.”

Casey also lauded the Broncos’ facility and believes the renovations the Titans are making will lead to it being up to par with his new home.

“It’s a beautiful facility,” Casey said. “In Tennessee, they’re doing a lot of upgrades now. So, I’m pretty sure in the next year or two it’s going to be a great facility also.”

Casey, who was drafted by the Titans in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft and played nine seasons with the team, was outspoken about the frustration he felt right after being dealt.

When asked about it again, Casey still made it clear he wasn’t thrilled with the move, but was a bit more toned down in his response.

“Yeah I was irked, but it’s a business,” Casey replied.

The veteran will have a chance to prove to the Titans they made the wrong move right away, as Denver and Tennessee will meet in Week 1 of the regular season at Empower Field at Mile High.
