'Jurgen loves this club' - Klopp's agent opens up on Liverpool manager's long-term future

Jurgen Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke has opened up on the manager's long-term future at Liverpool.

Klopp recently signed a contract extension which will keep him in the dugout at Anfield until 2024.

But recent reports in France have linked the boss with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In response to this speculation, Kosicke shut down any swirling rumours of Klopp's departure.

He told Sport1: "Jurgen loves this club and at the moment I don't know what would be better for him. And he doesn't know either.

"Liverpool is currently positioning itself in the long term. It's also about planning security.

"Players like [Sadio] Mane, [Virgil] van Dijk, Mo Salah, they should all extend or already have it. And of course, the manager plays a major role."

After completing his new deal earlier this month, Klopp, who arrived on Merseyside in October, 2015, admitted "there can be no better place than this".

The Club World Cup winner said: "When the call came in autumn 2015, I felt we were perfect for each other; if anything, now I feel I underestimated that.

"It is only with a total belief that the collaboration remains totally complementary on both sides that I am able to make this commitment to 2024.

"If I didn’t I would not be re-signing. This club is in such a good place, I couldn’t contemplate leaving.

"I must also highlight the role of our sporting director, Michael Edwards, in this journey so far. His input and collaboration has been just as important as anyone else’s in getting us into a position to compete for the game’s top titles.

"For anyone in football who aspires to compete in an environment where every element of the organisation is at its very best – from the support of the supporters to the vision of the owners – there can be no better place than this."
