Jurgen Klopp 'won't sign Jadon Sancho' for same reason Philippe Coutinho deal collapsed

Jadon Sancho looks certain to leave Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old has seemingly outgrown the German club, who helped the up-and-coming prospect transform into arguably the most exciting young player on the planet.

Manchester United are leading the way to sign the forward, who is tipped to command a transfer fee of around £120million.

But the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain will likely be sniffing around Sancho in a few months.

Liverpool, according to reports, will not be.

Sancho has been linked with a move to Anfield, and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a fan of the England international.

But the transfer seems to be unlikely for two key reasons, as outlined by an agent who spoke to the South China Morning Post.

"Liverpool are not in the market for £100million players and they don't need him," the unnamed agent said. "I've dealt with Klopp – they'd rather pay half that amount for a player a step or two behind Sancho who they think they can improve."

In recent years - following the signings of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson - Klopp has looked to make shrewd signings, like Sepp van den Berg, Harvey Elliott and Takumi Minamino.

He's spent little, with the long-term plan that these youngsters will learn from the superstars already at the club, and, in time, take their places in the team.

As reported by Mirror Sport, it is for this very reason that Klopp isn't looking to re-sign Philippe Coutinho as he would cost too much.

Coutinho will also be 28 next season, meaning the Reds would only get a few seasons out of him at best, rather than the potential 15-plus they'll get out of Harvey Elliott.

Sancho has age on his side, given he's only 20.

But he is already in the 'made it' pile. Dortmund are the team that gave him that platform in which to show his potential, and now he's worth a fortune.

And, if the agent is to be believed, this rules Liverpool out of the running to sign him.
